What Your Hard Working Kids Are Up To!

Hi Parents,

Welcome to January! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays!

Here’s what we’ve been up to…

Math- we have been digging into division and will have a test at the end of the week! Pretty please encourage your child to practice math facts!

Reading- We are learning Nonfiction Book reading skills while learning about weather related topics. Reading, responding to text and sharing topics that we are learning with others.

Writing and Social Studies (yes, together!) -Personal/Literary Essays. Using a BIG Idea, we will prove our point by using evidence and Core Democratic Values for support.

Spelling- A new list is coming home to practice our new words- attached to a NEW Tic-Tac-Toe board- so please check out the NEW directions.

Thank you so much for supporting your child’s education! I certainly couldn’t do what I do with YOU!!

Gingerbread Houses!

We spent time with our first grade buddies making gingerbread houses! After the houses were carefully built… they were enjoyed bite by bite! All of the students, whether big or small had a fun time together!!

Fifth Grade Candy Cane Sale!!!

The annual fifth grade candy cane sale is officially here!

The annual candy cane sale has returned. Our fifth-grade classes will sell candy canes to help raise money for their end of year activities. This year the sale runs from Wednesday, December 4 through Wednesday, December 18.The cost for each candy cane is $1.00, and they will be delivered the same day they are ordered. Thank you for your support, and happy holidays!

P.E. Cares!

The annual P.E. C.A.R.E.S food drive will be starting on November 6.  We are asking for your help by bringing in non-perishable food items for Love Inc. in Hudsonville.  Food items to consider are canned vegetables and fruits, pasta, rice, baked beans, black beans, kidney beans, peanut butter, tuna fish, etc.
 (please no ramen noodles)
The food drive will continue until Nov. 21.  We will be keeping track of how many items each class brings in for the food drive.  The class with the most items at the end of the day on Nov. 21 will win a bowling trip to Hudsonville Lanes and a P.E. C.A.R.E.S t-shirt.
This is a great opportunity for our students to care for their community, thanks for sharing in this service project with us at Georgetown.

Football Fridays

We have had a guest in our classroom on Friday afternoons!  The high school football players were asked to give back to the community by volunteering, so Jace has been helping in our classroom for the last 45 minutes of class each Friday. As a thank you for hosting Jace, the kids in our class received free admission to the Friday, October 25th game.  The kids had a blast forming a tunnel to welcome the players onto the field at the beginning of the game!
